HDA Users and external access.

Postby symptom » Thu May 03, 2012 2:37 am

Hello..

I am completely new to both linux and amahi, but I managed to get a server up and running.

Got 2 questions for you guys.

Firstly:

I can access the HDA by going to http://hda/

First time i logged in, I had to create a user, which I did.
Prior to that, I also created a user when I installed fedora.

I then edited both the users' name to make more sense, but when I go into hda/, I can see the user is still the old name.

So, is there a way to delete HDA users, just to clean up my mess and do it properly?

Secondly:

How do I connect to the Amahi server from the internet?
Also, where can I see what I actually named my amahi server?
m starting to loose track of all the different usernames i use :>

Also, I have disabled DHCP on my router and my client pc is getting a ip from the amahi server.
So that should be all-good.

EDIT:

I found out that i needed to forward port 80 to the server..
I got that working now.. <3

Still wondering about how I delete Amahi users though...

Only the Amahi admin user can remove users. You must log in as that user, then remove the others. They cannot be admin users either.

Please keep in mind that user names are finicky in Linux. Recommend you do not use upper case, special characters, and definitely no spaces. The biggest issue we have seen is with the use of spaces, especially in passwords. You can replace them with underscores (_) if you really want to have user names like a real name (i.e. John_Doe).

One final word of caution. DO NOT create, delete, or modify user names in the native Linux environment. Only do this through the dashboard or things will get our of sync and not work properly.

Well.. uhm.. ops :)

I created a new admin and deleted other users, from the dashboard.
BUT, I also went into the native linux environment and deleted the users, but I didnt touch the newly created user.

Hope I didnt screw anything up.. Everything seems to be working as intended :P

Sounds like you got it all sorted out. In future, recommend you only modify users via the dashboard.
