Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml)

Postby techlife » Tue Mar 13, 2012 5:36 pm

So, now, in an effort to fix an issue with the ./CA script in my post here: http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3791 I'm afraid I have made a real mess. On some advise I found googling the issue I was having, it was recommended to remove / clean / reinstall openssl.

So I did the following:
yum remove openssl
yum clean all
yum clean metadata

Then, of course tried to reinstall openssl with:
yum install openssl

Now, anytime I run any type of yum, i get the following:

Code: Select all

Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, presto, refresh-packagekit Setting up Reinstall Process Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile fedora/metalink | 2.7 kB 00:00 updates/metalink | 2.1 kB 00:00 * fedora: dl.fedoraproject.org * updates: dl.fedoraproject.org http://f12.amahi.org/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 503 : http://f12.amahi.org/repodata/repomd.xml Trying other mirror. Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: amahi. Please verify its path and try again
Help! Please.

I have heard that the Fedora 12 repo may not be available. I have not checked myself, but you could turn it off manually.

As root user, do the following:

Code: Select all

cd /etc/yum.repos.d
Edit amahi.repo file and set enabled=0 and then run yum update again. Turning this off should not hurt anything as I do not believe we are providing any updates to Fedora 12 any longer. We typically only do maintenance fixes for previous releases. Since we are working Amahi for Fedora 16, it's unlikely there will be anything new for your HDA to receive.

I may be off on the paths/file names, but you get the idea. You can always turn it back on when you are finished (enabled=1)

Not sure if this will help, but hope it does.

Yes!

Thank you sooo much!

I guess it's time to upgrade but last time I tried it was a bit of a mess. The whole not enough room something error that I didn't take the time to figure out. Looks like it may be time as we seem to be moving on to 16.

I'll do some reading and tear into it this weekend. You'll know if it goes badly. ;)
