apps resolve outside lan

Postby cmesarah2000 » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:55 pm

I have set up amahi and everything is working good accept apps resolve outside lan.
1. set amahi-shares-settings to MSHOME and xp/windows 7 clients
2. turned off DHCP and dns in router
3. checked in windows....ipconfig and dns is google 8.8.8.8 ....I did a ipconfig /release and ipconfig renew
now if I am on my xp machine and click on apps in the dashboard I get taken to home.com....if I go to amahi-apps-webapps and click a link....like http://webmin or http://phpsysinfo apache says you were looking for webmin but that domain is not on this server and resolves to anything.com
Honestly not sure what i'm missing. thx in advance for any help 8-)

Have you released/refreshed DHCP lease on your clients? Also if you are trying to access them out side your network, there is some additional setup required.

See this page.

Note only 1 app will work at a time. There are ways to make them all accessible, but the guidance is yet to be developed.

I am trying to access from within the network. I did do a /release /renew and restarted both machines. I am rereading install process to see what i may of done wrong....don't see anything as of yet.
you think this has something to do with bad dns setup or something else?
I just tried http://hda and it take me to anything.com. typing 10.67.67.10 instead take me to hda dashboard. hope that helps in the diagnosis.

That tells me the DNS is not correct with your clients. What are you using, Windows 7? It might take a DNS flush on your client to get it working.

Try this at the command prompt in Windows if that is what you are using: ipconfig /flushdns

Try the network troubleshooter.

http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Network_troubleshooting

It might help pinpoint the issue. Almost seems like your XP client is not using the HDA as its DNS.
