Hi all

I'm currently using Amahi with Fedora 14 and I have som eissues with the connection of my USB 3.0 IcYBox with 2x2TB.
The point is that the system seems not to mention the drives.
I'd googled a little bit and found that there seems to be an issue with the disabled xhci mode.
So I tried to enable it via the sysctl, which did not work (xhci.enable is an unknown key) and via grup no change either

so what had you done to get your USB 3.0 device working and recognized by the system?

Am I the first one who have problems with using a USB 3.0 drive with amahi? O_o .. couldn't believe this

I am having the same problem with my USB 3.0 ports. My motherboard is a Zotac H55ITX-C-E http://www.zotacusa.com/zotac-h55-itx-w ... x-c-e.html with 2 USB 3.0 ports on back panel. I can connect my external USB HDD (Toshiba Stor.e Alu 2S 1Tb USB3.0) to the USB2.0 ports on my motherboard (and front of case Lian Li PC-Q07 and transfer data to my greyhole pool of 2.5" drivers (4 x 1Tb). When I connect my external USB HDD to the USB 3.0 ports on the back panel I get no response from Fedora at all, not even as USB 2.0.

Researching the topic online I got across a forum about problems with USB 3.0 drivers in Fedora 14. Apparentely, there is a work around here http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F1 ... ot_working
"It looks like USB3 support was disabled due to a bug in the driver (xhci or xhci_hcd) that causes machines with the USB 3 to never suspend correctly."
There is also a workaround which will allow you to enable USB 3.0 support and still suspend successfully. After adding the xhci.enable=1 kernel parameter, create a file named /etc/pm/config.d/xhci, with the contents:
You should now be able to suspend and resume the system successfully.

Note: If your module is called xhci_hcd instead of xhci, then the above instructions have to be adjusted accordingly."

I have not tried it yet myself but I am planning to do so. I will post my results soon. In the meantime, give it a try and see if it works for you.

Good news, it worked! My USB3.0 ports are now up and running in Fedora 14/Amahi.
Just follow these instructions posted by Firewing1 here http://forums.fedoraforum.org/archive/i ... 58020.html (just go ahead and copy-past all the code into terminal in root) restart your computer (remove anything you may have connected to your USB 3.0 ports) and that's it!
Someone spotted a mistake in the code but it was corrected so you can safely copy-past all of it and reboot your machine... voila... USB 3.0 blazing speed all at your disposal! Way to go Firewing1... thank you!
