new to Fedora

Postby baguasrr » Mon Oct 17, 2011 2:56 am

hi
I'm in 2nd line deskside support for a big research facility using Windows XP, Vista and 7, and 1st line for Blackberry, not a genius, and a bit of a Linux Noob
Not too scared with Ubuntu as I have had Ubuntu on a couple of laptops at home for over a year, and use Ubuntu at work as an unofficial data recovery tool.
At home I also have a Windows 7desktop, and my son has an XP pc, Xbox, PS3, an HTC Android phone, and a jailbroken iPad.
I also use a Blackberry and have family all over the world. So Amahi = iwoot

Every time I try Fedora install I can't get on the internet.

Install sees the router, can ping router, access router web page etc. but no internet, so can't see amahi repositories, so install fails.

Stick anything else on - even tried a developer release of Windows 8 yeterday - and I'm back on the net.

Any replies appreciated

Hello,

Are you using Fedora 14 Full DVD or the Amahi Express CD? If not, you must for Amahi. Follow the Install instructions on the web site.

http://www.amahi.org/support/instructions

It sounds like since you are losing connectivity with Fedora, it could be driver related. Although Fedora 14 is compatible with most hardware, there are some that it does not work well with.

aha - answering my own question :) - it's a known issue as I omitted to mention I'm using an HP DC7700
