Linux newbie has screwed up, please help. Lost files problem

Postby Hippo » Thu Sep 29, 2011 2:05 am

Well its my own fault, but in fairness I am new to linux.

I had the server running well for several days now but then I decided to move a few files.

I did this locally on the server, then I read in the wiki I shouldnt have done this

Now I cant see the files on the shares remotely or locally, the are still there as the disk space is correct to the number of files.

Something doesnt know where its supposed to be, please help

Thanks in advance

Edit: As an update the files are still in /var/hda/files/gh/ but not in /var/hda/files/

Just to ensure you get the files, you can use winscp to connect to the box, browse to the directory and copy them over to your desktop pc. You can then delete them from the server and upload them via the share folder per normal.
