What is Amahi? (not a flame, really)

So I've been working with Amahi over the past couple of weeks in an attempt to migrate a dozen drives out of my WHS box. I've really liked what I've used so far. Amahi seems to do what I expect from a file server - it keeps my files safe & available.

But, I'm not entirely sure what Amahi is. I know what Fedora is and I now know what Greyhole is but I'm not sure what parts of the equation are actually Amahi. Is it just the code related to the web interface? Is it the mechanism for app developers? Or, is there more that I haven't discovered yet.

I'm really not trying to pick a fight here. I'm really fired up about getting off of the MS-crack pipe. But I'd like to better understand what I'm talking about when I start to sing the praises of Amahi.

Thanks in advance.

Amahi is a home server solution. It provides a framework for many features, some you already mentioned. There are web applications provided that install with one click and most pre-configured to run out of the box. It provides a DHCP/DNS Server, MySQL database, and web server as well.

You can also host your own website via the FREE dynamic DNS provided. Check out the web site to find out more.
