Remote Connection with VPN

Loving the hda! Quick question: Installed the VPN (hdaconnect) on my remote client and am connecting with my server at home ok.

Can't see any files tho so it looks like now I need "VNC Viewer" for the remote box, right? (and to config on the server)...

Thanks!

what do you see when you type \\hda ?

how about \\hda.home.com ?

(substitute home.com by your domain)

For both conditions I just get: File not found in my browser...

if this helps, when I connect using hdaconnect I type the following:

ip specified by amahi control panel.home.com
username
password

The remote system tells me I'm connected to the hda but I don't see any files. Must be something simple...

Thanks for the help!

Nobody else has run into this problem? I'm connecting to the hda via 'hdaconnect' but can't see any of my hda files in my browser. I've tried the combinations above as well as IP of the hda & the assigned IP hdaconnect gives me.

Unfortunately this is a big part of what I wanted to use the hda for...any other suggestions from anyone?

you should not be in your browser.

you should be in your file navigator, or file explorer, or whatever windows calls it.

go to my computer and open it. in the address bar type \\hda
(after being connected)

also, in the *web browser* can you see http://hda ?

finally, can you

Code: Select all

ping hda
from your client while connected to the vpn?

this http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Network_Troubleshooting
and this http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Vista_Networking_Issue
could help ?

Thanks cpg... entering //hda in 'My Computer' shows the files. :D I'd checked there initially but thought a refresh would display what was available - not so.

Now "http://hda" in the web browser gives me the Amahi Dashboard (previously just got "file not found").

I can also successfully ping the hda at this point.

Good news - only hurdle now is no audio when playing server mp3s on client (play fine inside the home network)...

Thanks again!
