I made the mistake when I built my home server in going with something that I should have never done. WHS . I have been fighting it for weeks now and realize that I should have gone this route to begin with. My problem is this - I have already relocated files onto it and would not want to have to start from scratch it at all possible, but if this is the only way, then be blunt and say so and I will spend the few days ensuring everying it either on the original system(s) or on an external drive b4 I get rid of this other POS OS.

If you can isolate the "files" from the OS drive then you can install Amahi on the OS drive and then add the "files" drive to your install when it is complete.

Well what I did when I first started this was I had 2 1TB drives setup and installed the OS and it created a 20GB "C" drive and then it created a "D" partition of 931GB that spans the rest of the initial drive and the second drive. All the files are there, and then once I had that done, I added 2 more drives for a total of 4 drives. All the drives are NTFS, and not sure what happens when I go to install this. I take it the best solution for this is to just start over since everything is still on the original systems since I had so many issues with it that I didnt remove anything.

if volumes are spanning disks, they may be ntfs, but that may or may not work afterward on linux. ntfs works, however, if there is some logical volume structure, it may not know how to read it.

i would take the data out to a SINGLE/plain (or two or three) isolated drives.
