Incredibly weird VNC keyboard problem

Hi,
I have setup my home server as a headless server, although I still want to be able to use it to write DVDs remotely.
Following the VNC page on the wiki (using method 1) I can now log on the HDA.
However, I installed Fedora using a Belgian keyboard layout.
I have a strange problem depending on how I log on to my HDA.
If I log on with TightVNC on "hda:1" I have a Qwerty keyboard layout
If I log on with TightVNC on "192.168.1.10" I have an Azerty keyboard layout (which is correct)
EDIT: on hda:1 I have my numeric keyboard to the right working, on the ip address it doesn't work?!
I also adapted by xstartup script from "gnome-session &"
to the separate gnome parts following the advice given here: http://blog.yclian.com/2007/12/3-soluti ... board.html
How can this happen?
