Server Mobo

My current amahi build is pretty great!
Unfortunatly It is on a machine originally intended for windows 98...so it's becoming unreliable.
I am looking to build a rig from the ground up with server specific parts.
My confusion lies in the dual ethernet ports. I 'feel' like the internet should go to eth1 and the LAN would be administered through eth0.
Is this correct? or is a dual ethernet setup too crazy to jump into?

Personally, I would not worry about a dual Ethernet setup. It is doable, but more work. If this is not required, go with the standard setup.
I am not familiar with such a setup, so not sure how much configuration it would involve. I presume Amahi would work fine, but not positive.

The WAN/LAN router part is absolutely not supported nor recommended, you would need to modify your DHCP config, iptables and a few Amahi core components (and most of those settings would be gone on a reboot).
You need to do a few tweaks if you're going to use ethernet bonding/trunking but it's doable although I don't expect a home user to notice the difference in performance or redundancy unless you have multiple switches (and not simple home switches but at least SOHO equipment).
I would worry more about storage redundancy, performance than network.
Get a real hardware RAID card with 4 or 6 ports, don't rely on the cheap RAID controller on the mobo unless you are buying real high-end hardware (Like a HP Proliant with an HP SmartArray controller). Set it up properly, get to know the RAID levels and what would be best for your situation. Test if needed. There is no "one size fits all" solution for this.

So I'll skip the Dual ethernet...

There is mobo supported Raid 1. However, I was going to the following setup:
16Gb SSD (sda) for boot and system files
2x 1.5TB RAID 1 (software) setup (both sdb and sdc) through the install process mounted at /var/hda/files
Found that setup in the FAQs...

Parts in the Mail from newegg... Just finished case Modifications this morning!
I'll let you know how I get on as I complete the build.
