Amahi DLNA not in dahsboard to install

Postby rangus » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:56 pm

Ok, I've searched and searched for this answer. How do you install Amahi DLNA? All the posts say install it from the dashboard and then configure. It is not in my dashboard or the amahi.org/apps. I must be missing something. Please be kind.

Fedora 12 or 14? It is not live in Fedora 14, so won't be in the apps list.

Fedora 14 is the official Amahi supported version. However, DLNA is not live yet. It has some small issues that need fixed to be compatible with F14.

No ETA at the moment. Hoping to have something by the end of the month. Amahi Tunes is available now if that app would meet your needs.

Why were working versions of apps (DLNA and others) for F12/Amahi 5 taken out of our list of available apps? I am really gun shy about this upgrade to F14 and Amahi 6 and for the last year, just as you all have stated and I have relied on, Amahi 5 just works. But now, just as I start to research really leveraging the server for multimedia as an alternative or addition to cable TV, apps start to disappear (DLNA, iPod streaming, some others) or are starred with an asterisk for testing?????
If I am putting this question in the wrong place I apologize, I am not a super user by any stretch, but there was little or no notice of this and I can't find this explained anywhere. I would appreciate any insight or reference to an understanding of what this all means those of us not jumping on the upgrade bandwagon right away.

With the utmost respect and appreciation for what you have provided,

Update: After looking again at the AppStore on Amahi.org, I started to notice a lot fewer apps available - period, with no deference to whether you continued to run Amahi 5 or were upgrading to Amahi 6, and prices associated with some apps. OK, understandable, but still no clear explanation for how legacy users of Amahi 5 are affected. What if I had some of the apps that were free in Amahi 5 and WORKING were installed and being used? Would they have been disabled on the 3rd of March?
In the announcement blog this is misleading:
"Can I upgrade from Amahi 5: yes, with caution and patience. You don’t have to, however. Your Amahi 5 server will continue running for years if you let it run!"
I don't mind supporting the cause after a year of free use, but I have to reiterate what I asked above, Is there some place where all of this is explained for people who set up an Amahi 5 Server some time ago, took for granted the reliability and stability, tinkered with some apps on occasion and now are wondering what is going on?

I upgraded from F12 Amahi 5 to F14 Amahi 6 and already had DLNA installed beforehand and it is still working after upgrade. DLNA is a useful app and they are just trying to monetize the product. You may as well get used to it or move on. I still find Amahi useful but if I had to pay $7/month I may as well use WHS. Hopefully with revenue the apps may move out of beta status.

Apologies for the delay. The issue with DLNA is that the dependencies broke. And it has a lot of them and we're looking into that. There are a lot of apps that depend on the same dependencies from RPMfusion!

It should be ready in the next 24 hours!

Hi

I'm looking for a follow up, has anyone got DLNA running on Amahi 6?
This is the main reason I haven't even attempted to update as yet.

Cheers!

Dan.
