Amahi useless without internet connection?

Hello from germany!

I got four feelings about Amahi:

"Cool":
Open source, nice look, functions like greyhole, installation with apps went fine (plugged into my internet connection)

"Confusion":
Why this need for an installation code and strict settings for my (!) home server?

"Sorrow":
I disconnected the server from the internet, connected it to my private network, and:
Yes, Amahi boots up, but where are the icons?
It seems almost all functions get/need something from the internet.

Maybe i expected the wrong thing but when i install something on a server, i expect it working afterwards.
So is this farewell for me and Amahi?

My private photos, documents and programs won't go onto something having a fulltime internet connection.
There are many "good" and "bad" people out there capable of breaking your security measures.
What if "the internet" for any reason is broken at my site? Sorry but my files are lost?

"Hope":
Some core systems seem to be working. Is there a list what works without internet connection?

Any answers to "Sorrow" and "Hope"?
Please prevent me from reentering the Gates of hell.

Karsten

Yes, Amahi MUST have an internet connection. Without it, you will have very little functionality. Recommend you refer to System Requirements in the wiki.
