Multiple Hard disks within HDA

Hi everyone,

I installed my HDA just over a year ago and ever since Greyhole was released I have been puzzled by one aspect of my installation.

When configuring my HDA, I installed two IDE hard drives at the very beginning of the process. In the Amahi dashboard under 'storage' / 'disks', the system correctly displays the two separate hard drives in the system. However, under 'stoarage' / 'partitions' the storage space of the two drives is aggregated together in one pie chart. I assumed this was normal until I researched the Greyhole capability and noticed that many screenshots of other systems showed multiple partitions for multi-hard drive installations.

I have not turned on the Greyhole functionality and I am not aware if my current configuration would allow it. Ideally, I would like the system to recognize each disk as a separate partition and then use Greyhole to pool the drives. Currently, I think I'm getting a pooled view of storage but no replication.

A few questions:

1. Why does the HDA view two separate drives as one partition? Did I perform the initial installation incorrectly?

2. Is it still possible to use Greyhole using my current configuration?

3. If not, what steps are required to do so?

Thanks as always for your time and help.

You had the drives connected during the install of Amahi? I had to disconnect all drives apart from the OS drive, install Amahi so it only saw that drive, THEN add the other drives as per above. You should see the drives separately and be able to add then to the drive pool. THEN on your shares, specify that you want a share to use the pool.

Head on over to http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_ ... o_your_HDA
for the correct procedure.
