HDD format question

Hi all,

I have installed successfully Amahi on my PC, and for the moment it's working well.

I have now a question about disk formatting, because i have added a new disk drive to my amahi server. In fact when i partitioned it i selected EXT3 as format. Reading some topics here an following a link to a trouble shooting page (http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_ ... o_your_HDA), i read this
Note that Windows can't read ext3 partitions, so if you want dual-boot Windows on your Amahi PC, or if you intend to connect this hard drive to a Windows computer later, you should format as NTFS instead,
I will not use the drive on a windows computer, it will be always used on the amahi server, but does that also mean that if data is now written to that drive that i cannot access it from a windows machine? Or does this just mean that i cannot use the drive if i try to put it in a machine where windows is running? If the first option is the case, should i reformat the drive using NTFS?

Sorry for this noob question. I am just trying to understand how it works.

Samba is the Un*x software that fully mimics Microsoft networking. Thus a windows system can access data on a mapped Un*x drive via Samba regardless of the format of the Un*x drive.

Don't worry, your cool. :ugeek:
