Amahi and Time Capsule

Postby Gopal » Tue Mar 03, 2009 4:17 am

Hi!

New here...new to Linux...new to Amahi.

Before I install Amahi on a spare laptop, I would like to know how Amahi plays with TimeCapsule.

Currently, TimeCapsule is set up as my wireless networking source. Will installing and running Amahi change anything? Can I still run TimeCapsule as the wireless networking point?

Thanks!
Gopal

Yes, it should work.

Your HDA just provides some network services that you can choose to replace from other part of your network.

In terms of file sharing, my understanding is that the TC will not share files with samba, so that should not interfere, and since it probably advertises itself with bonjour, the other macs should still see it regardless of samba naming protocols.

All that said, we have seen reports of Amahi being used as a Time Machine backup store, not the other way around, so to speak, so please report :)
My HDA: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz on MSI board, 8GB RAM, 1TBx2+3TBx1
