I have been messing about with amahi in a VM for a few weeks and finally got my head around creating mountpoints and basic terminal commands in linux.
If you have not guessed it yet I am infact a complete newbie to linux.

So I am finally ready to take the plunge and build a make-shift machine to try amahi properly, I am not interested in RAID and all I want to do is have a file server and probably install sabnzb.
Now for the questions.

I have an 80gb 2.5" drive and a 2Tb 3.5" drive, what would be the best setup for this?
(install Amahi on the 80gb drive and use the 2tb for my shares?)

My 2tb drive already has files on it and is partitioned in 1tb/500gb/500gb, do I need to reformat this drive and re-arrange the partition layout or just leave the full space as one partition?

If I install Sickbeard aswell will it mess up my HDA in anyway?

your wishes sound very reasonable. You may want to install Amahi first on the 2.5" HDD and add the large disk later. There's no need to repartition/format the large disk, you should be able to mount the partitions without issues.

I have no experience with sickbeard but I don't suspect it will hinder Amahi in any way, perhaps only if you're trying to use 2 torrent programs at once.

If I were to add two big data drives, what would you suggest? Format them ntfs or ext3?

My hda is the only Linux driven machine in my all Windows network, and I want all drives to be accessible in Windows explorer.
