Okay,
I just want to see if anyone has any suggestions why this is not working.
I am running tomato firware on a asus router. I changed the dns server to Amahi home server. I have the dhcp server shutoff on my Amahi server. I was just curious if
http://hda should be working or not?
My ps3 see's the media server just fine and i can get to the speed test and joombla page no problem with the .home.com on the end, but i wasn't sure if the
http://hda should work all around the house also? Thanks!

As long as you are using Amahi for your sole DNS server, it should work. Short urls as well as long are should resolve. Keep in mind that there are tradeoffs when not using Amahi as the DHCP server as well.
See
http://www.amahi.org/faq#can-i-disable- ... -amahi-hda for more info.

Did you enable Squid? I found that stopped the short addresses working. I just use the long names now.

That very well could be a problem. Amahi can work with a proxy server, but there ma y be trade offs.

1. what is SQuid?
2. I've had the similar issue, where all my browsers (chrome & firefox) in windows 7 pro, do not let the
http://hda work properly.
On all my linux and WindowsXP machines, the
http://hda does work fine.
hmmmmmm windows 7 methinks?

Did you set the workgroup on all your clients to match the HDA? Also, if is important to release/renew the IP for clients as well.
I use Windows 7 clients with my HDA and no issues.

It maybe your browser that stops it working.
Chrome sees "hda" in the address/search box, and assumes you mean to search for HDA not visit a location called HDA.
Because of this, I always use the full name in my browser.
