full url not working only shorten url working

Hi Guys,

I have 2 DNS servers setup one with Zentyal for LDAP DNS etc and of course a Amahi server (being the networks main DNS server and only DHCP sever).

What my problem is that I can access the apps fine from Windows but I mainly use Linux on the desktop but the links from the Amahi page doesn't work within Linux. The links direct me to to the the full url ie: http://bookmarks.marcs-net.local instead of just http://bookmarks where the url http://bookmarks work.

Does anyone have a solution to this issue or experienced this same issue?

That is normal that you see the long url most of the time. The question is can you use the short url to get to the app?

Also, running more than one DNS server is a no no with Amahi. It needs to be one or the other. Reason being is when you access a url, which one gets used is a crap shoot. If may not always pick the primary DNS for resolution.

That has been my experience. Using only one takes out that element of chance.

Thanks for replying bigfoot65 sorry about taking so long to get back to you. I believe I might have to use both as my Zentyal server runs a LDAP server (I have a Win background and normally Windows AD server likes having its on DNS server not sure if its the same as LDAP)

The funny thing is that the short links work perfectly but not the FQDN links. Also under windows the FQDN addresses work.

Could Linux clients be the issue?

Could be that running both together may not work as designed. The zentyal server has some of the same functionality as amahi.

I would be that if you were only running amahi, there would be no issues. I am surprised that both are working together this well. Many times when you start mixing customized servers together, one conflicts with other in some function.

amahi runs quite well with my windows server. i simply create a slave zone in windows and add the windows server as trusted in bind.
