How to reset Amahi admin password?

Hi, my name is nstg8r and I'm a newbie...

I've been running a new installation of Amahi for a couple of days now, but I've forgotten the admin password for the Dashboard. After searching I found the script to reset user passwords (/var/hda/platform/html/script/reset-user-password [username]).

I ran this in a putty window (I'm running a headless box) and got a successful response. I then set the password for admin by issuing the psswd command.
After which I restarted the PC, and tried to login to the dashboard as admin with the new password. This failed.

I'm not sure where to go from here, is there a step that I'm missing?

Hello,

That is the correct script. I thought you had to provide it the user name to reset and desired password. Maybe I am mistaken, can't remember as I have only tried it once.

If you issued passwd from the command line, that won't work for the Amahi user. Only the script can be used to reset the password for Amahi. Run the reset script with --help and check what parameters need to be provided.

Hope this helps.

thanks bigfoot.

The end result is that the reset-user-password command needed an additional argument " -u "
This reset the admin users password, then when logging in to the web dashboard with the admin user it prompted me for a new password.

Much thanks to the folks at Amahi for the help --> cpg & bigfoot, beers and cheers to you both.

For any newbies needing help, I recommend the irc channel and these forums.
