Hmmm...home wiki?

Postby Leagle » Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:45 pm

So I have Amahi installed; I can access my hda by typing simply "hda" in my browser address window, but when I type "wiki" in my browser address window, I am taken to my hda's dashboard at the user tab, not to a wiki. Same thing when I type http://wiki . BTW, when I first fire up a browser, I initially have to log in, then am taken to the dashboard. Searching for help on this by using the word "wiki" turns up a lot of hits, as you can imagine, so if the answer's in the forums, I can't find it.

I've run through Amahi's network troubleshooter, and everything seems fine.

I have a Linksys wrt54g -- I disabled the DHCP server on the router, but I'm unsure if I'm supposed to make any other changes, for example, to the DNS settings on the router.

I'm doing this from a client machine.

I've installed several Amahi apps, if that's relevant to anything.

Any ideas on how to enable the "out of the box" wiki functionality? Is there something I'm missing wrt DNS?

...and when I try to access my file shares from my WinXP machine by typing "\\hda" in the file browser -- my web browser immediately fires up and takes me to the same dashboard for my hda/Amahi.... :?:

The wiki app has to be installed first, we have a couple to chose from WikkaWiki, DokuWiki plus most of the CMS have them within there own program.

To get to your share from a window machine open up windows explorer (not to be confused with internet explorer) or My Documents or whatever and in the bar type \\hda you should then see a list of your current shares.

Huh. Okay, I guess when I read "out of the box" wiki functionality, I assumed that a wiki was automatically installed with Amahi, not that one was available to be installed as a separate app. The various instructions I saw didn't reference the requirement to install a wiki app separately. No big deal, just want to make sure I'm not misinterpreting anything.

You didn't miss anything. The wiki app used to be installed by default in Fedora 10, but was removed when we upgraded to Fedora 12.

The link that is listed on the site has a bug filed to be removed. We also need to update the web site and other references to remove that dialog so there is no confusion.
