Installing non-Fedora

I know from what i can read that there is basically no support for installing Amahi in other ways than with Fedora...
I am currently running a openSUSE and would really like if it was remotely possible to install Amahi with my existing installation

How would i go ahead and do this?

Or do you still recommend NOT doing this?
It would mean me completely reinstalling and setting up my wordpress-service that the machine is currently running.

and please if possible explain it as i was a 3-yearold and not a :ugeek:

Hello,

I am sorry, it cannot be done. Amahi is only supported with Fedora 12. We are working on a fork to Ubuntu, but do not plan on working any other distros at this time. We are a very small community and barely have enough resources to support one distro.

The only option I can offer is you start from scratch with Fedora 12 and install Amahi. You should be able to save all your Wordpress settings/data and use them on Amahi though. That is the only option I can see if you want to try Amahi.

We hope you will give it a shot.

anyone have any good ideas or tools for migrating my existing XAMPP installation including Wordpress to Amahi?

or is it just as easy as exporting the database using regular Wordpress tools and then when Amahi is installed set things up with the export?
i also noticed that Amahi supports DynDNS but what about regular DNS... i have my site responding to a .com address....
would be nice to actually have this work like a charm so i don't have to reinstall my old Suse, worst case i need to keep my current installation untouched on the HDD and install Amahi on a completely new disk...

my worry is that my blog is down to long due to system issues...
what i am trying to say is... can you guarantee me i can make this work :-)

I would recommend checking the Wordpress documentation on migrating to a new server to ensure you don't miss anything. The database is key, but there might be a few other things.

A new hard for the Amahi install would be preferred if it was me. That way you can always go back to your old system. There are no guarantees, so need to deploy good backup practices.

As for the Domain/DNS, you can use your own. See the wiki page (http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Changin ... S_provider) for more info.
