Do I need to install VPN?

I am getting ready to install Amahi. I am installing this because I moderate a users group on Yahoo. We have a file area, but many of our files are over 10MBs. And ISPs usually will not let you file attach a file larger than 10MBs to email, and also, yahoo has a file size limit. So I want to bring up a server, from here at home, (7Mbps down 756Kbps up) and display a web page that anyone on the Internet can see. Then I want them to find the down load area and have the ability to down load files. Does this mean I need to install VPN?

Any other extra stuff I should install to do the above? Or will Amahi walk me though this?

Any chance Amahi supports a email list (kind of like Majordomo)? It sure would be good to move away from Yahoo email list. So many advertisements.

Thanks from one of the many noobs!

You can use the information in this wiki page on hosting your own web site.

The VPN is really only needed for secure, controlled, access to your network. Not for public access.

There are a few apps to manage mailing lists: phpList, Gutuma, ... and others (more like CRM apps).

And there is a mail server, however, if you do that, you will soon hit a wall in ISPs, etc., beyond 30 or 40 in the list.

Thank you for your help. Just the stuff I need to read.
