Very simple - how to backup using Amahi

I have the server up and running. I'm enjoying the shares, and Amahi tunes. I tried a few other apps and they are fun, but I'm not sure why I'd use them. One thing I would love to have on my network is scheduled backups of specific folders or files from any of my Macs, WinBoxes or Linux boxes. Is this possible with Amahi? I added phpMyBackup, but it appears to be a program that backups up mySQL databases? I'm looking to schedule backups of specific folders on specific boxes. Can this be done with Amahi?
Thanks for any tips.

I use these as well and enjoy them everyday.

There are numerous ways in which using Amahi allows you to backup your clients. Currently though Amahi does not have anything that automatically backs anything up that is live. We do however have numerous applications that are still in beta testing.
We have Clonezilla packaged so that you can boot via ethernet to Amahi and do a full disk image of your client. This however requires you to be hardlined. Another app in beta is Crashplan. We have a webapp for crashplan that you can either use to install crashplan to your HDA and then install crashplan on each client and backup to your HDA. But those are beta and not for use by the general public (we are however looking for more testers if you are interested please send an email to support at amahi dot org)
Myself for my windows clients I use the integrated backup features within those clients and just automate it that way. Linux I use crashplan.

Ok. Thanks. I'm looking at Crash plan. I thought that was a pay service? Anyway, I'm also reading through the baremetal backup solution included with Amahi.
The link on that:
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/PBA
I just may write support, but I'll try to find a bit more info on Crash Plan first. Thanks for the quick response.

PBA is being replaced by clonezilla and ask that you focus your efforts there. However, crashplan is only a pay service if you backup to crashplan. Yet, find a buddy on Amahi and backup to them!
rampage537 and I are testing this over a long distance. We'll let you know how it works out.

Ok. Did you have a link for clonezilla and Amahi, like the one for PBA? I will check out crash plan now for sure. I'm not sure why I thought it was a for pay only solution. Thanks for the information.

Hello,
These apps are both in beta testing at the moment. You will not have access as a normal user. If you send me a private message with your Amahi user name, I can provide you access to Clonezilla for testing.
The Clonezilla application for Amahi is a client backup program. In otherwords, you network boot your hard wired clients to the HDA to run it. If you need to back up your HDA, you would want to download the Clonezilla Live CD available at
http://www.clonezilla.org/.
We are working a solution to expand the Clonezilla application. Once finished, you will be able to use it for both clients and server.
