Remote desktop

Hello i have just installed amahi and as i want to run it headless i need to run some kind of remote desk top app firstly i tried HDA connect but i could not get it to work so i asked a question on irc and i was advised to try vnc server i tried but could not get it to work but i think that during the install i picked up virus of some kind as a message appeared telling me that some one was trying to control my pc and a small terminal window appeared briefly with the message "you got owned" i googled this and it appears to be somekind of automated windows attack so i have formatted the hard drive and am currently reinstalling fedora and amahi
my question is this how can i set up some kind of remote desktop appliation so i can control the Hda from my windows pc, i would like to leave the Dhcp server on my router.
I am completle novice to linux so any sugestions would ideally be idiot prrof please

Hi i found the answer it seems to be a problem with the Vnc client on my windows pc as now i have installed Tightvnc and it connects every time withot problems.
