Unable to make initial login.

Postby char70ger » Sun Jan 31, 2010 5:14 pm

I have just finished the installation of my new HDA. The instructions tell me to login using the same credentials as my fedora account and will be prompted to change the password, however, when I use them I am met with the username or password is incorrect. Is there any way for me to remedy this issue.

The user name and password for the HDA should be the one your created on first boot of Fedora 12. Was there any upper case letters, symbols, or did it contain spaces.

Any of these could cause problems. Some users had the caps lock on and didn't realize it when initially setting up their system. It is an easy thing to overlook. All Amahi user names and passwords are case sensitive, so you have to enter them exactly as when you created them.

I hope this helps. If you still have a problem, please let us know.

Same problem here. Have tried all combinations of upper and lower case just in case. :-(

Hmm.

can you ssh or boot as single user mode (type "single" in the boot command line in grub after it comes up and you press 'e' to edit it)?

once in, can you list what is in /home/?

Code: Select all

ls -l /home/
that will tell you the exact username that is expected. Use that for the first login.

Thanks for the help. Great embarrassment on my part, problem was a typo in the user name. Thanks :">

I am having the same issue. I originally installed on a machine that had a motherboard issue. I could access HDA, but had to shut down that machine and install on a different one. When trying to log in I get "Error: Incorrect username or password" both locally and remotely. I have un-installed and re-installed both Fedora (12) and Amahi and tried the same username and password, and different ones upon re-installation. What am I doing wrong???

Okay, I've got it working now after another un-install re-install. Not sure what I did different but I can get to the dashboard. But now I can't get into Ampache after installing that. It doesn't like any of the username and passwords I try. Any ideas on that?

Have you tried admin/admin as the user name and password. This is listed in the special instructions after you install the application. If that does not work, please let us know.

When you install an app, right above the link, the special instructions will appear. You can also go to the Installed Applications tab and click on the app. When it expands...you will see them as well.
