okay...
I understand the concept of Dynamic DNS...
I have port forwarded a port to my HDA's static ip...
so when I surf to aljachimiak.yourhda.com what should I see?
is it the same thing I see when I type HDA into the address bar inside the network?
If so - it doesn't work...Halp!

Re: DNS???
OTay...
I figured it out... I had the wrong port forwarded to the HDA's ip adddress
My confusion was that I thought it needed to be 5900 but it actually needed 80.
I have successfully been able to install and access webapps via dyndns:
for example:
jampache.dyndns.info
jamahiwebvnc.dyndns.info
I would rather access it as part of the dyndns that amahi sets up...is this a possibility?
something like:
aljachimiak.yourhda.com/ampache ???

Re: DNS???
no, not as separate directory /ampache. they are virtual hosts based.
if you have a comain you can map A records or C records to it.
also, keep in mind that this will be public ... so it's a potential hazard of intrusion in your network.

I don't know what you are talking about here...I'm a noobno, not as separate directory /ampache. they are virtual hosts based.

Not a problem...nothing important other that a few cd's... If I get exploited by some spammer or otherwise... I'll just shut it downalso, keep in mind that this will be public ... so it's a potential hazard of intrusion in your network.
At this point I'm having fun learning about all this cool functionality...
I was just hoping to come up with a way to have less addresses to remember...
Re: DNS???
we will make this easier in the future ...
