Ok. But as i said, I've confirmed it's unmounted. Unless you're referring to something else.
Regarding GParted Live: Is the preferred way to obtain to download it from the web and as an ISO image?

Yes. Download the ISO and burn it to a CD. Then boot the HDA to the Live CD. Any drive connected will be detected by GParted. You will then be able to manipulate the USB drive and remove all partitions. You can also create the single partition using this software. There is guidance on their site for how to use it.
Once done, reboot the HDA as normal.
What I am suggesting has nothing to do with the drive being unmounted. I saw that in your previous posts. This is about you removing the partitions and creating a single one as if the disk was new.

I thought so. I think I understand now. In the following point about un-mounting, you were answering the question of what needs to be done if you're going to physically detach a USB drive from a server--i.e., unmount first. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
So if I load GParted and reboot the server it will boot the HDA via GParted?
I will download and work with GParted. Nervous about this part. You would need to unmount before removing from the server. You could try using GParted Live Cd. Boot the HDA to it with the USB drive connected and then remove all the partitions.

No worries.
That is the correct site. When you put the CD in the HDA machine, it will boot to the CD and not the HDA. You will be working off the Live CD and can access any drive connected to the machine.
No need to be nervous, just make sure you work on the USB drive and nothing else

Re: Simultaneous Issues; MediaWiki (cookies) & HDA Down
I just burned the ISO image to a DVD (believe it was successful; we'll see).
question 1: I didn't think of it yesterday, but when I boot using LiveCD will I be able to login using ssh via terminal the way I usually do (I have a headless install of fedora 19), which I usually run remotely via another laptop . Or will I need to use the HDA machine ? (i.e., no remote login).
question 2: Will the list of drives that LiveCD lists look like it does here, or more like the way the cfdisk was showing it (i.e., the images uploaded yesterday)

No, you will need to actually be on the HDA. You can do this on another machine if you want to connect the drive to it.question 1: I didn't think of it yesterday, but when I boot using LiveCD will I be able to login using ssh via terminal the way I usually do (I have a headless install of fedora 19), which I usually run remotely via another laptop . No, there is a pic on their web site. It's a bit cleaner.question 2: Will the list of drives that LiveCD lists look like it does here, or more like the way the cfdisk was showing it (i.e., the images uploaded yesterday)
