Greyhole is filling my Harddrives

This Amahi Greyhole thing is so amazing I like it!

Ok when i read the wiki about the Landingzone. Then I see that the landingzone is out of the "Storage Pool" - can i put the landingzone into the Storage Pool or would you prefer the option with a 2nd Partition?


And then this sentence:
Pick a big enough LZ partition that will allow you to copy enough data. Choosing the biggest drives you have is usually best.

Ok but why is important to pick the biggest, when Greyhole only does make links on this drive? I don't put everyday 1TB of data into my amahi

I would follow the wiki guidance and not put the LZ as part of the storage pool. If you do, you might fill up the drive and cause more issues.

The reason for choosing the largest is to ensure enough space for when files land there. It should be at least big enough to handle the amount of files you would move at one time.

Mine is only 400GB, but I never move that much at once. I rarely move more than 5GB at a time.

Now my idea:
I want more FreeSpace so '1 Serial ATA' Slot is free in my server. I want to buy an 3TB HDD and do 2 Partition with gpartet.

1x 1 TB (This is for Landingzone)
1x 2 TB (This is for Storage Pool)

So my question is, what do you think of this idea and is this possible because i read the article with hdds lager than 2.1 TB.

Then my Server look like:

SystemDrive (32GB)
Landingzone (1 TB -> Partition of a 3TB Harddrive)
Storage Pool (4x 2 TB Harddrive + 2 TB Harddrive Partition of the 3 TB Harddrive = 10 TB)

I cannot say if the 3TB drive will work or not. If you desire to partition it for LZ and data, that should work.
