Sorry forgot
When I "nslookup hda" I get
Server: hda.amahi.net
Address: 192.168.1.65
Name: hda.amahi.net
Address: 192.168.1.65
This doesn't exactly agree with what the troubleshooter suggests should be the result
EXPECTED

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
Hmmmm. Not sure what to check next. Have you verified your Windows client is showing 192.168.1.65 as the Gateway, DHCP, and DNS servers?

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
Thanks for being patient.
I'm having the same problem with my Desktop W7 64 bit and my laptop W8 32 bit
I've just swapped to fibre optic so need to set it all up again
I'll check your last suggestion when I've re set it up again
I presume I can check 192.168.1.65 by using cmd.exe ipconfig /all

Yes that is correct. Probably something simple that we are overlooking.

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
Hi
Thanks again
I think that it could be a windows access problem - in my experience Networking it has never worked very well on XP or W7 or maybe just difficult to setup if your not a networking specialist.
My problem is I'm retired and living out of my home country so have lost all my computer expertise help.
I'm sure that you would know somebody whose a Windows expert on networking and maybe you could ask them if there's something that I should be doing on my machine to get the access. Sorry, I' don't want you to extend any friendships but if your chatting to somebody someday????
I'm not (haha my opinion) a complete dummy, I've got port forwarding working for the database file, but the file is on my desktop and I obviously want it on a server
Regards

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
Understand. Maybe someone will see your post and respond. In the mean time, you could use WinSCP to transfer files to the HDA.
It will connect much like Putty (SSH) and allow you to transfer files back and forth.

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
I'm having the same problem, I have installed from the DVD and I also cannot log onto the hda web interface, but I am able to login to ssh via putty and WinSCP
http://hda pulls up in my browser, but tells me I have invalid username or password. I have tried on 3 different machines as well as Firefox, chrome, and ugh...IE install was flawless and my server IP is correct.
I have checked the logs as posted earlier...
hda-install-express-141031-215146.log
Error log is blank

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, I am frustrated on re-installing this over and over again.

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
I presume you have entered the password twice as it requested on the initial login. Is this 32-bit or 64-bit install? Did you the minimal installation as directed in the wiki?
Looking at the log files, I don't see any issues.

Re: Can't Log In to Server - W7 with Username and Password
correct I know the password is right, I can login with putty using the same pass. I followed the install video. this is the 64bit express disk. all default settings, one HDD. I am installing again and creating a root pass this time, thinking maybe I can logon as root if the user still wont let me in.
