O.K. I'll give that a try thanks. I'll also try the Shoutwiki. It seems that if I'm going to be spending my time administering the MW and the server and their unexpected interactions, I'll be spending more of my time doing that than intended. MWs are (from my perspective) complicated and if something goes wrong I could find myself dragged into a time consuming exercise. Thanks again for your advice.

No problem The main reason I like ShoutWiki is I can access if from anywhere and they are responsbile for the updates. They do update rather quickly too when new versions are released. They have an extensive help section as well.
Not bad for free.

Thanks again. All naturally compelling reasons of course.
I left a brief message with the ShourWiki folks about whether they support MathJax and XyJax, the two items I spent some time installing several weeks back. I believe that all MWs now ship the former as an optional extension, at least via its remote CDN (the preferred way to run MathJax).
However, I needed to run MathJax locally (hence install it; not hard), in order to couple it with XyJax (which is not offered, and a little more involved to install, but not hard). Hopefully, they support that or would install it for me, even if for a fee. I notice that they offer wikis to universities/colleges and so there's a chance they may support these extensions.
