can your hda access the network?

- ping hda
- ping yahoo.com

if so, then you can choose to turn off the router's dhcp server *and* "repair" your clients - renew their lease so that they get it from your hda.

once they do, they will resolve properly.

otherwise it could be your clients. try http://hda.home.com
(assuming your domain was home.com)

Hello cpg,
ping hda doesnt work
the hostname of my server is lodore-amahi
does it matter what the hostname is?
I tryed to change it but it didnt rememeber the change.

btw atm im testing amahi in virtualbox.
my host computer is running vista

could using a virtual machine be the problem?

if so i can always install amahi on to my old dell.

VM is fine. some people run amahi on that. there is more of a full benefit probably when running it on hardware on a real network :)

the fact that you cannot ping hda from the hda itself is not a good sign.

note that the settings you pre-configured in amahi.org must match the network settings inside the vm.

i see it on my hda as well.

i would not worry too much about it. the desktop tool will let you just update the security updates, no?

we will see what i can do to move things along this axis.

Hi cpg:
The desktop tool will not let me update. I also tried to report this in your bug site but it will not let me(as a side note).
Thanks.

thanks for filing bugs. those are important to track things.

you have to log in first.

just like in the forums, the first login creates a user for you that matches that of amahi.org and here
in the forums (single logon).

there is a log-in sign at the top right.

as far as the updates ... this has to be researched a bit ...

Hey cpg,
what settings are you referring to?

cpg is referring to the settings on www.amahi.org (on your login /server page). They must be correct for your network setup otherwise it won't work.
