hi
just installed amahi, runs great, had issues with F12 dvd, so did the live cd workaround.
have three question thus far:
1. have F12/amahi running on a 500gb drive with two 1gb drives in raid 1, which i set up while installing F12. Seems the Amahi shares are on the 500gb drive, how do i migrate them to my raid setup? 500gb is for the OS only, i know it seems a waste but was the smallest WD green drive could get.....
2. running win7 on one pc, connected via ethernet and one laptop running F13 connecting via wireless - uses wicd not network mangager, as i not good for my wireless. the win7 pc see all the shares and can edit everything, F13 on the other hand doesn't, wont even log onto HDA via firefox. how do i get this to work? tried with a ubuntu 10.04 live cd and that wasn't much better - do i need to mount the drive(s)? newbie at linux networking. thought it would be like windoze and just see it on the network?
3. can i log into the F12 server box to alter and administrate from any pc on the network or do i have to connect a monitor keyboard mouse and access that way?
cheers
more newbie questions......
Re: more newbie questions......
tried this guide
http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding_ ... o_your_HDA
now the server wont boot to F12 and says:
an error occurred during the file system check
dropping you to a shell; the system will reboot
when you leave the shell
tried dropping into su and editing the fstab file from here but get: can't write warning
am now very lost how to get the thing back up?
cheers

Re: more newbie questions......
first, the live cd is not supported. people have issues with it.
the only thing we support is the full DVD, or now in beta, the Express CD (which is for headless installs).
something went awry in the file system.
from the recovery shell, you need to typically run

Code: Select all

Re: more newbie questions......
ok thanks will try that, see if can get back in
only used the live cd as F12 dvd kept crashing and stopped loading after nominating the new root password - have burnt three dvds now at the lowest speeds. CD has worked fine until i played with the FStab file.
an clue on the other questions?
cheers

Re: more newbie questions......
used fedora disk to rescue system and changed the fstab file back to how it was previously. can now boot into a F12 desktop.
wondering how to retrieve the data i moved to the raid disks (sdb1 & sdc1)? F12 sees them under thedisk utility. Win7 isn't seeing the shares anymore, so cant get the data from there. tried mount /sdb1, says cant find them it in etc/fstab or etc/mtab. presumably need to add it but don't want to go back in there....
hda dashboard is showing the disks (from win7 pc firefox)
once get the data back am going to try the F12 dvd again failing that will try the other method
cheers

Re: [solved] more newbie questions......
got the dvd to work!!!!! found my files and transferred off the disk.......
now all setup and working well so far, the amahi guides are great, very easy with the dvd. Amahi 5.3 Express Beta CD would be worth a look for next time
cheers
