I've managed to get VNC running, but, never having used it before, I've a few questions.
First, should the vncserver on hda be started by root, or by a specific user on the system? I ask because I've had some odd problems with authentication. I would rather not have to log in as root, but I've not seen much in the way of an alternative so far. If I start the server as an individual user, I can only log in as that user.
Second, what is the best way to end a VNC session? I can simply close the window, or I can log off the machine. I tried the latter, and ended up not being able to log back in until I used ssh to log in to the hda, killed and restarted the server. Seems a bit clumsy, so I hope there is a better alternative.
Paul.

Re: VNC questions

One question - is anyone using SSH tunneling to run VNC remotely? It looks like quite a good alternative (especially since my current router doesn't allow me to forward UDP ports).

Re: VNC questions
Paul....I seem to have answered most of my first questions. When I read the Wiki, I failed to notice the link to G-Loaded Journal. Having read that, and killed some of what I'd already set up, I've now got access for three users on the hda. Nice.

I am about to install Amahi and I am a nob. Did you install VPN becasue you want to have a server that is seen on the web (from outside of your home)?
Or to put it another way, If I want to have a server and a web page displayed on the internet, do I need to install VPN?
Thanks
