Network address of the amahi server

Postby dbbd » Fri Oct 30, 2015 9:27 am

I have installed amahi, and selected a static ip 50. After the install I rebooted, but my system still got a dhcp based ip 15.
Of course this did not work until I manually fixed resolve.conf to 15, but I understand this is not what I want. Why did the amahi not change the host network configuration to be static, and how do I fix it?

(I guess one option is to set the router dhcp to give the server the address 50 using its Mac, another is to configure the amahi server to not request using dhcp, but use a hard coded address which is what I assumed amahi is doing during the install)

Thanks,
Dan

What was the IP address in the HDA profile on amahi.org?

Have you tried releasing/renewing the IP address on the HDA?

It should pick up the correct IP address IAW the HDA profile, unless there is something set on your router that indicates otherwise.

The hda profile ip is 50. After the installed I rebooted. The boot requests an IP address, and it got 15.
Executing dhclient -r followed by a dhclient, gets 15 again. The router has no special knowledge that this system should get a specific ip, so why would it provide 50?

That is an odd occurrence. Did you follow the Amahi 8 Install guidance?

Please provide the URL for the following command:

I fixed the problem by changing the network settings to a static IP address. I expected the amahi setup to do that for me, but it didn't.

Is amahi supposed to set the network to a static address? Or is the instruction to do it manually missing in the documentation?

Thanks,
Dan

Yes.

Please provide the answers to the questions I posted. I would like to figure out the root cause of this issue.

You installed an unsupported release, correct?

I see Gnome Desktop running in the file you provided. We don't support this type of installation and that is likely the issue.

It's best to do the Amahi 8 Install as recommended on http://docs.amahi.org. These alternate Fedora 21 distributions has not been tested and it's likely there could be other issues. The Desktop software appears to not play well with Amahi 8.

If I am mistaken, please accept my apologies.

Yes, I now see that you only support fedora server. I installed from a live USB of fedora workstation.
Well, with a little intervention, it works.
I now need to figure out greyhole.

Thanks,
Dan

Ok thanks for the confirmation.

Please see the dnsmasq troubleshooting and let me know if it works.
