CLOSED: Can't access hda

Postby alscara » Sun Sep 13, 2015 4:27 am

Hello. I recently disabled DHCP and DNS on my HDA because it was causing my internet to drop briefly every time my computer renewed, causing my game clients to crash. Now my HDA cannot access my local network, can't ping my router or modem from it, can't see it from modem or router, swapped hard drive into a different system, still couldn't be seen. If anything I just want to retrieve my data from the drive. What am I to do now? How come it can't be seen suddenly? How come it can't access a network over ethernet now that DHCP and DNS are turned off?

We may need more information to help troubleshoot.

As a first step, recommend you check out the Network troubleshooting guidance.

BTW, no need to turn off the HDA DNS server. It will resolve locally to the HDA only when not using the HDA DHCP server. Did you try with it enabled?

The main issue I found was that my primary partition had been labelled as a raw file system and couldn't be accessed. I found a program online that was able to pull my data off the raw partition, and I will be doing a clean installation of the whole system. this thread can be closed I guess as there's no point in trying to troubleshoot when a clean install is more convenient.

Sounds good. Ensure you install Amahi 8 as it's the latest stable release and the only version supported.
