SOLVED: Root user authentication failure

Postby caizizuofang » Sat Aug 02, 2014 1:49 pm

I was trying to login my HDA as root user by command su - and password was entered then. I'm pretty sure I use same password for both regular user login and root user. However, I got the failure today. Anyway I can reset the root user password or any possible cause for it? Thanks.

Probably the easiest method is to login as your 1st admin user. Then do:

Code: Select all

sudo su - passwd
ßîgƒσστ65
Applications Manager

My HDA: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz on MSI board, 16GB RAM, 1TBx1+2TBx2+4TBx2

This is the right way I think. I followed the amahi Q&A did this:
If you are already logged in as another user enter su - to change the current session to the root user
But seems like this works for me. Thanks. My issue resolved.

Yes sudo will work too. You will find the FAQ and wiki are great sources of help.
