New Express Install dashboard questions

Postby jerryw » Fri Jul 25, 2014 2:01 pm

I have a new install from an Express DVD and everything seems to be fine, but now when I start digging into instructions and documentation in the Wiki, things aren't lining up...

Items referenced in the wiki aren't on my system. For example, the wiki says that Greyhole is installed by default and I need to do stuff to make it work, starting by going to my dashboard, shares, storage pools... I don't have storage pools. Other things like advanced network settings are missing too...

Did I do something wrong during install?

Pay close attention to whether it says Ubuntu or Fedora. Greyhole is not installed for Amahi 7 by default per say. There currently is no dashboard UI in Amahi 7 but it can be set up via command-line. Guidance is in the wiki.

Advanced settings needs to be enabled to see the advanced network settings. That's in the wiki too.

Please post the links you are using so we can make updates if needed.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm not sure how I navigated to the page were it said that greyhole is installed by default, but when I go to it from the post-install tasks, I do see that it says that it isn't installed on the Express 7 DVD.

I know that my system is running Fedora, but the express install is obviously very different than installing Amahi on top of an existing Fedora install.

Am I better off Installing Fedora and then install Amahi? I'm not a Linux pro, but am competent enough to install Linux, operate a command line and install packages.

Express CD works the same. You won't see any difference in the results.
