Still stuck on this, have noticed Linfo shows the hostname as

Unknown-xx-xx-xx-xx.home

That doesn't look correct? Could it be a clue as to my trouble?

Might be a clue.

Do this command:

Code: Select all

hostname
and

Code: Select all

hostname -f
It should reflect something like hda.amahi.net. Did you change the hostname on install? It should had been left to localhost.localdomain.

The hostname setting is then picked up from your amahi.org profile.

You can try fixing it. Check that /etc/hostname reflects
localhost.localdomain
.
If you want to change it, enter something like
hda.yourdomain.com
(replace yourdomain.com with whatever you set in your amahi.org hda profile.

Once you change it, then do the hostname command again. If it doesn't change, you may need to reboot.

Thanks for you patience Bigfoot, control panel has: Home Domain amahi.net
Changed hostname to hda.amahi.net but no change..

http://hda - works, as it did before
http://router
http://setup still take me amahi.net, not my machine.

Partners Win 7 laptop doesnt connect to websites

All else works, apps, vpn etc checking and rechecking forums only thing I can see not as expected is that,

nslookup hda.amahi.net

Server: hda.amahi.net
Address: 192.168.1.10

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: hda.amahi.net.amahi.net
Address: 208.115.201.197

Reading about setup troubles I come across reference to must be eth0, on my Dell PC "Using first ethernet connection "enp2s0" " - any relevance there?

Cheers, David

Apparently the http://setup is not a valid link. It does not work on my HDA either. Will have to investigate that one a bit more.

As for the nslookup, not sure if that is a clue. As for the eth0, that should be ok. Amahi 7 simulates it for the other possible names, or at least I thought it did.

Not sure what else to recommend here short of reinstalling. Not even positive that would change things either. Is it possible to test with a different laptop? That would at least eliminate the laptop as the problem.
