But if I use the HDA for the DHCP and DNS server for my network and it will not resolve DNS, even if I can reach the HDA using the internal IP, I still can not reach the internet.....

I understand, I just was curious if you could access it via IP address. Since your clients are reflecting DNS for the HDA, I presume the HDA cannot hit the internet either.

Did you turn off DNS on your router? Some need it to access the internet while others allow you to set it for a specific DNS server. It should remain on depending on how it's used with your router.

My router has two DNS areas, one is automatic from the ISP and the other allows me to specific a third party one, like OpenDNS. If I shut off the automatic one and don't enable the other, I have no internet connection.

Might want to check the manual for your router if unsure.

OK I'm getting close, the dns on my router was pointing back at itsel, removed that and I seem to work!! :D
