Hey guys!
First off, I have been fiddling around with Amahi for the last few days trying to set it up on an old laptop of mine. I installed using the 7.1 express disc, after a few reinstalls, I think I have it halfway working.
I have installed two apps, the first being OpenVPN, which has successfully allowed me to remotely access documents outside of my home network. The second being Amahi DLNA Server, which I have installed, status shows as running, but I cannot get it to show up in clients on my home network, these clients let me access using '\\hda' but trying to get VLC player or Windows media player to show them is proving a difficult task. Also tried to access it using my TV, which can access a MyBookLive NAS, but not my Amahi server.
I am a Linux newbie, and an Amahi newbie, so I'm pretty lost, I don't know what other information I can give to help you help me, sorry!

Take a look at the wiki guidance:

Re: Getting Amahi DLNA Server to appear on clients
I've had a look in the wiki, the problem I am having though isn't to do with not seeing certain files, it is that I can't get the clients to access the server through DLNA, Could that be caused by installing too early? Also I do not know how to access the linux file system, if I am too much of a newbie that I am beyond all help please just tell me now, as this has been driving me crazy for the last few days.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Getting Amahi DLNA Server to appear on clients
There are many reasons why your clients do not see the DLNA server.
a. Have you checked to see that a firewall is not blocking access?
b. Does access the web UI for DLNA show any files?
c. Are you using the HDA for DHCP and DNS server capability?
d. Have you check /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log file for errors?
There may be some command line investigation needed. Recommed you check out the wiki for help in using SSH. Running a home server is not a simple task and occasionally may require command line access. There is also many good tutorials on the internet that will be helpful.
