Amahi on Acer H341 possible?

Postby higeko » Fri Oct 18, 2013 11:36 am

Hi,

I am totally new to linux, honestly I didn't get in touch with anything but Windows until now.
In addition my english is not as skilled as it should be for learning new technical things and doing research.

I have some trouble installing the Amahi 7 Express Disc on my Acer H341. It stops after a while with a black screen and a mouse pointer - before I had a chance to do anything (chose partition, language ...). The boot device with the install-dvd is an external USB-DVD-drive. The only harddisk is a 60gb ssd, the small internal usb-drive has been disabled in bios. A vga-port with screen is attached.

Google has no solutions for me if it's even possible to run Amahi on this machine. So before I'm wasting my time on awkward research and troubleshooting, would please somebody tell me if it's possible?

Helpless greetings from Germany

I ran Amahi 6.x on Fedora 14 on an Acer H341 for a year and a half. It was an excellent box. I had all the bays full of 2 TB drives and used greyhole on three of them. Worked like a charm for file sharing/dhcp/dns/small jobs. I eventually moved to a stronger proc and a custom box since I wanted it to host a minecraft server and do some video transcoding. That was too much to expect out of the Atom CPU. Otherwise it was rock solid.

I did not have a VGA card, so I installed to the main drive inside another generic PC. Then moved the disk into the H341.

Check out this Web Post for the H340. Basically the same box.
