Windows media center 7 and recorded tv

Postby Wavform » Sun Nov 17, 2013 11:48 am

Just stumbled on this server option today. I currently run whs v1. In my living room I run wmc7 to watch and record TV. When a show is finished being recorded it automatically is transferred to the whs recorded tv folder. It will still show up on the wmc7 in the recorded tv list for viewing even though it is actually now on the server. Is there a way to do this amahi and have wmc7 see the files in the same way?
Seriously considering this option as my server just died and need to do something soon. Thanks

Anything is possible, but this would most likely be a feature of an app or maybe a cron job. Not sure, but probably not as simple as it is for WHS.

This is certainly do-able because this is my setup. I have the the amahi server setup with a share called "recorded tv". When I record shows, it records them on WMC then I periodically move them to my Amahi server. I have added the server file share as a location in WMC therefore all my shows either on the PC or Amahi show up in the same location. You could also schedule a move through something on your WMC PC. I just haven't messed with it that much.

It really requires no additional setup on the Amahi/server side of things. If you're still looking for a free alternative, I would suggest it.
