Hello all first post on the forum
I have a real linux newbie problem How do I log in as root when I log out as my user name and try to log in as root using the word root as a user name or / and the root password I get an authentication error but the same password will let me elevate privileges to do things like add a new linux account am I doing something wrong or is that how it's supposed to work or is there something wrong in my installation

Re: logging in as root
Where are you trying to log in as root? The dashboard does not support root if that is where you are trying to do it. The first user you created when installing Fedora is the admin user in the dashboard, which is kind of your root user for the gui.
If you are trying to log in via SSH or command line, see this guide in the wiki.
