Ok so I've been an Amahi user for a while now but would still rate my Linux knowledge as dangerously noob. I'm running Amahi 6.1 on Fedora 14 which was an upgrade from 5.2 on Fedora 12.
I was having some issues getting everything to run including the DNS server and realized eventually that I needed to update the Ruby Gem setting in the /var/hda/platform/html/config/environment.rb file. Unfortunately i don't know if its a side effect of the updates but I now can't install or look at the settings of any apps on my Amahi installation. On the HDA dashboard if I log in and then either look at my installed apps, installed webapps or available apps. I can see the name and description for each but if I click on them nothing happens. The same is true on the shares tab or the users tab, the buttons are their but they do nothing. the hidden section doesn't display so I can't actually install anything and can't modify settings. I didn't know if it was a bad update or just a mis-configured variable but I'm not sure how to downgrade the Ruby packages back to test it or even know if this is a good idea. Can anyone offer some advice? It's almost like Javascript is broken but i'd figure that's client side not server side.
Thanks.
Trouble modifying settigns after update
Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
I'm a little confused about your problem(s).
Did you do a fresh install of 6.1 or did you upgrade?
Are you having dns issues? If so, have you tried the network troubleshooter? Post your results.
A clean install might be the easiest way to solve your problems.

Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
Sorry for the confusion. I did an upgrade.
I ran the network troubleshooter and got as far as step 8. Here's the pastebin for it
http://pastebin.com/KB1T1EPh.
In terms of looking up the url for http://hda it doesn't redirect as the network troubleshooter says but instead lists a lot more of the page code. I think its working though.
If I need to do a fresh install I will do. If I want to keep all my installed webapps and data do I only need to backup the /var/hda/web-apps folder /var/hda/files and a copy of the MySQL database?
Thanks

Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
For a fresh install, the only thing you can back up is the database for the apps. Each has its own, usually the name of the app.
You will need to reinstall the apps with the new install, then reload the database with your back ups.

Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
One more question related to my apps; I currently have the following webapps installed;
Ajaxplorer, Transmission, Amahitunes, Speedtest, Extplorer, WebVNC, IPSec-VPN, PHPMyBackup, DLNA, Webmin and CrashPlan and also utilize the built-in OpenVPN.
Will I be able to reinstall all of my applications without incurring the cost of repurchasing them again?
I appreciate the apps but would rather avoid a $30 cost for reinstalling everything from scratch.
Thanks,

Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
Yes, once you purchase an app its yours for life. You will have access as we move to new versions of the apps and OS.

Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
I think I may have got some of these apps before the app-store was launched (hence before they were chargable). Can I still reinstall these or will they now require purchase to function again?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Re: Trouble modifying settigns after update
Those you had prior to the app store will require purchase I would think. Might want to contact support to get a definite answer. Keep in mind that not all apps have a fee, only some.
