Hi

Im just testing it.
But I have some Questions since i'm a linux noob.
How can I access the Interface via VNC.
When i want to start it. it recognizes that there is a running instance and quits.
But I cant access this running instance because i'm not the user apache.
How does this work with Linux.
I even can't stop JDownloader cause its not in the Settings-Server Tab at the Webinterface.

Hi

Solved the above Problem.
The Interface can't be accessed via vnc :( (or I can't?)
But direct access to the hda worked after killing the previous instance.
Now I need to find out how to add JDownloader to the Watchdog.
The Autostart seems broken, too.
Will search the wiki.
Some usefull Links or tips?

It looks to me like the app is broken - i.e. not packaged properly.

dizzy1 is the packager ... or ... have you been helping him out?
should we file a bug in the tracker explaining what has been done and precisely what happens?

all that stuff should work for a properly packaged app.

Hi

I was only interested in this app and became a tester.
Installation works and you can access the web-interface.
But you can not use it before you make some changes in the config.
To change the config i had to kill the running App.
Than i started the app as root and made some config changes (download path, reconnect, etc).
While this Instance was running the web-interface worked fine.
But after closing it i had to start it the normal way.
Because it wasn't in the Watchdog i restarted the whole server.
But JDownloader didn't start.
Thats my actual Problem.

For normal use there are some more Problems.
The Web-Interface isn't that good.
Some important Features are missing (No access to the config, No possibility to enter a captcha manual)
But this work has to be done by the JDownloader-Developers.

But this work has to be done by the JDownloader-Developers.
The developers of jDownloader are aware of that, as they are currently looking for someone to do a new web-interface for them,
according to the webpage. As of now, the best way of working with it seems to be a local fedora install via the jDownloader.sh script
from th download area and vnc + web-interface for monitoring.
I just don't know enough about linux and packaging to help - or is it less difficult for a linux newbie than i think?

Hi

I also tested it with the sh-script. But when i close vnc i'm logged of and jDownloader stops. If I have to be logged on all time this makes no sense and i could install JDownloader locally.
Perhaps my vnc configuration is the Problem. I used method 2. But i don't know the difference between the 2 methods.
I heard that there is an better Webinterface in the nightly build of JDownloader. And in the german Forum there is someone who wants to improve the webinterface. Perhaps we are lucky and there will be a good interface in the near future.

The alpha isn't really useable.
Or I made a mistake.
But even if it would work it's not more than the normal Version and a link on the amahi homepage.
No Autostart and Watchdog.
If you have a running version stay there.
But if you got it running you could make a beta :-)

JDownloader rulez!
It must get in Amahi right away!
As torrents faint... this downloader becomes powerful!
Already supported in Linux.
