NFS

Postby marcel » Sun Nov 08, 2009 10:04 am

Is it possible to support NFS shares. Many media players supporting NFS shares. With NFS shares you can move high bit rates to your media player. When i play a Bluray iso from the NFS shares on the server i can play the movie without stuttering on my media player. With SAMBA i can't. So what i like to see is support for NFS shares. Is that possible?

really, media players support NFS?

not a bad idea in general. feature request please: http://bugs.amahi.org/
(under platform)

unfortunately, nfs user authentication is a pain (NIS). unifying that with our user model is really the challenge.

you can do 2 things: allow anonymous access (by chmodding files/folders to 777) or set the anonuid and anongid to a certain user/group.
that's for a basic implementation...
NIS/ldap integration is a pain...
