Streaming to Amahi

Postby neutari » Fri Mar 13, 2015 7:07 pm

Does anyone have any ideas of what would be required to live stream to an Amahi server?

Using Open broadcaster software (OBS) to record PC howto video.

It is an idea I had for work to stream video of me doing tasks, that others can look at instead
of me telling them over the phone how to do things. Just trying to save time.

You can stream from the HDA.

Basically having files on the HDA that can be accessed remotely is possible. There are various applications in the Amahi store that will provide this capability.

Streaming from the HDA we can do, we are just looking to see if we can add streaming to it as well.

I think I am confused here.

Is this what you are trying to do?

There is an app in the Amahi store we are testing that might meet your needs called Serviio. Check out it's features link to see if it would be beneficial.

Using this: https://obsproject.com/

We want to stream to Amahi, like you can with sites like Youtube or Twitch, various tasks. ie. a video helpdesk if you will.
Amahi will save the streams, which are then available to be streamed from Amahi to the users at their leisure.

Just looking to see what is currently available, what is required, etc.

Ok, based on what I see on their web site it should be possible. Unfortunately until they offer a Linux package, not much you can do.

It's still not clear precisely what you are trying to do. What is the source of the video, what is the destination (storage, real-time display without storage, etc.) and how/when does it need to be accessed.

Starting at the top, this feature as stated ("streaming _to_" an HDA) is not meant for a headless server per se, other than storage.

The closest perhaps is something like ZoneMinder which will record various streams meant for surveillance. The HDA only acts as a central storage server and manager, you still have to access the app and the video with

You may be better off with a tablet or a phone combination, but it really depends on what you need to do precisely.
