Would it not be ideal to have them flat as...
/files/backups_crashplan (no copy)
/files/backups_dbbackup (max copy)
/files/backups_dropbox (no copy)
/files/backups_windowsbackups (1 copy)
/files/books (max copy)
/files/music (max copy)
/files/movies (1 copy)
Or perhaps make selective backup quantity folders?...
(making it more obvious when mounted from clients)
/files/max-dups (max copy; contains all the folders you wish to max-copy)
/files/single-dups (1 copy; contains all the folders you wish to 1-copy)
/files/shares (anything that stays in the pool but isn't duplicated)

i will try to write it up and outline my failed attempt at a workaround so that the Amahi and Greyhole dev(s) can understand what i am asking for and hopefully have an easy fix.
I too would like the same kind of hierarchy you were describing. Sadly, greyhole (0.9.22-1) still has the previously mentioned issues with that.
Did you ever get around to add the request to the bug-tracker as suggested?

no, i have ADD and generally dont do anything i say i will.........but do plenty other stuff like tinkering....
i actually have a way of doing this within reason so i didnt think it was worth diverting the Dev from other tasks

Could you elaborate a bit on that solution, please?

i create the sub folders as i want them, the only thing that isnot ideal for me is that i cannot select different greyhole settings for them
