I really like the idea of this app. I'm hesitant to try though - I assume that suspending the HDA also stops the DHCP server, which would mean that none of my devices could connect to the internet while the HDA is down. Since I have a VOIP phone, I'm guessing that if the HDA is suspended my phoneline will also be down. Any thoughts? I could make it work by using the router DHCP server but I think this will mess up all the shares I've set up.

Hello bellamatt,

I don't think it will mess up your shares. I suggest to set up your network so set it uses the router's DHCP server. That shouldn't be a problem if you create a static DHCP lease for your HDA.

Internal calendar needed?

Postby jayrock » Sun Feb 27, 2011 10:15 am

Hello,

since the integration for the Amahi inbuilt calendar server works pretty well I was wondering if I should stop supporting the standalone calendar function (where the calendar events are set via CLI and handled by Amahi Energy Saver alone).

To be clear, these are the commands I would like tor remove:

Code: Select all

./aes.rb --showcalendar ./aes.rb --addcalendar
... and the "internal" option in

Code: Select all

./aes.rb --calendar

I never got any questions on the standalone calendar, therefore I *assume* it's not being used. If you want me to keep the standalone calendar function is, please shout!

Hi, I installed aes on fedora 14, but i get an error

[root@amahi aes]# ./aes.rb --shownetworkhosts
/usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `gem_original_require': no such file to load -- net/ping/icmp (LoadError)
from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:31:in `require'
from ./aes.rb:26

How can I fix this?

Hi stoehrli

seems like you are missing some files which should be in the installation package.

I assume you installed version 0.4.0.0 - please confirm.

Did you run the install script? - Please confirm

Please run these commands and fpaste the output:

Code: Select all

cd /usr/share/aes ls -l ls -l net ls -l net/ping
Best regards,
jayrock

- yes i did
Did you run the install script?
- yes - no errors
ls -l
[root@amahi aes]# ls -l

and now when the service starts I have this message

./aes.rb:210:in `sleep': can't convert String into time interval (TypeError)

This new error is probably related to an issue that will be solved in the following version. Can you confirm your Fedora and Ruby versions and post your configuration:

Code: Select all

uname -r ruby --version cd /usr/share/aes cat aes-config
I still don't understand why the install didn't work in the first place. Did you install Fedora 14 from scratch or upgrade from F12?

Is this your first installation of Amahi Energy Saver, or did you have a previous version installed?

Thanks for your help,

jayrock

uname -r
2.6.35.11-83.fc14.x86_64
ruby --version
ruby 1.8.7 (2011-02-18 patchlevel 334) [x86_64-linux]
cat aes-config

CheckSqueezeboxes: false
PowerconsumptionOff: "4.5"
PowerconsumptionOn: "50"
UseCalendar: "off"

Interval: "180"
Did you install Fedora 14 from scratch or upgrade from F12?
Yes I installed Fedora 14 from scratch.

I had Fedora 12 running aes 0.3.6 without problems.

Hi guys,

ok, got it. Thanks for notifying me about the issue.

As a workaround, edit aes-config and remove the quotation marks in the line defining Interval:

Code: Select all

Interval: 180
The next version, which I will hopefully make available during weekend, will fix this problem.

Cheers,

jayrock
